To this end, we:
Conserve the Environment
o Reuse packaging
o Reduce transportation resources by ordering in large quantity from our vendors
o Reduce transportation weight by using the lightest shipping weight materials possible
o Choose vendors who share our environmental conservation practices Even our accountant is paper free!
Respect People
o Treat customers and vendors with the respect we hope for ourselves
o Pay employees fairly and offer benefits
o Acquire marketing advantage without paying to influence opinion or bad mouthing competition
o Source products from companies that share and practice our fair trade values.
Carefully Use Profits
o Return a minimum of 1% of revenue to the community. Last year’s charitable donations went to Capital Area Humane Society, Clintonville/Beechwold Community Resource Center, US Fund for United Nations Children’s Fund, Nature Conservancyand Local Public Radio Station WCBE.
o Pay ourselves a modest salary and invest the rest in the business. We welcome your comments and suggestions in regards to our sustainability efforts.
